Buying a new truck: A few great tips

Take Me To Post Comment Form

It comes a time when that old 1986 model truck just gives up on you. You now have to finally throw in the towel and get a new one! It is very hard to go into a car lot or even just buying from someone privately and knowing all the important things before you decide to purchase. Here are some tips and ideas of things to consider to make it an easier process.
Set a Budget
First and foremost, decide how much you can actually spend, this includes monthly payments if leasing and affordable auto insurance (research the estimated amount). You definitely don't want to get stuck with something that you can't necessarily afford, so stay firm on your amount you can spend. Look for discounts and sales events in your area.shopping around is the best options first. Make sure you can go in knowing your credit score. Also try not to settle, pick the truck that you know will work for you and your lifestyle. You may need a truck that can haul things or be able to go long distances.
Trade In
Offer a trade in. In most cases, car lots will take your vehicle you own as a trade-in even if it is not working. The money can go towards your down payment. Try looking at new and used cars. Try also to focus on the actual purchase price of the truck as well as the monthly payments, do not want to be paying a truck no longer than you would have too. Never pulse by, meaning do not purchase the first truck you see unless you know for sure that has been the best deal so far.
Test Drive
Now, of course you do want to make sure the truck you are purchasing will last just as long as your old one, so don't be afraid to take a real test drive( at least 3 miles).
See how smooth it rides and if it shifts into gears properly. Listen for squeaking brakes or any unusual sounds. Make sure the car has no shaking and jerking, and don't be afraid to put some speed to it to make sure.Play with all the controls in the car, see if the heat and a/c are working properly, as well as any additional features, like a sun-roof or DVD player. Make sure all windows and doors are working. If you have a mechanic on stand by, feel free to have them check it for you.
After you finally picked out what will work for you and made sure everything is working properly, sit down and negotiate. Remember do not accept anything that will become a hassle to pay later on. usually when you are firm, it almost always works in your favor.
